European club agree €31.6m deal to sign Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood - Reports

French giants Olympique Marseille have reached an agreement with Manchester United over the transfer of forward Mason Greenwood. Greenwood will bring to an end his association with the Red Devils, where he first learned his trade.

Greenwood spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Getafe, where he was named the Player of the Season before returning to his boyhood club. The 22-year-old was put up for sale despite his decent spell in Spain, and multiple sides showed an interest in him.

Marseille have agreed terms with Manchester United for the forward, who will cost €31.6 million, as per David Ornstein of The Athletic. The former England international has hd interest from elsewhere, with a number of European sides in the fray.

Mason Greenwood is yet to sign off on the deal to join the French outfit, and the move will only take place after he agrees to it. Manchester United will receive €27.6 million in fixed fees and €4 million in add-ons and also retain a significant sell-on clause.

Greenwood returned to the club's Carrington base to hold talks with the hierarchy over a move away, as he had multiple interested sides. Juventus, Napoli, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund have also registered their interest in the forward but have yet to strike an agreement with the Red Devils.

If Mason Greenwood agrees terms with Marseille, he will join up with former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi at the Velodrome. The Italian took charge of Marseille this summer.

Mason Greenwood set to lead Manchester United clear-out

Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood is reportedly set to lead a mass exodus from the club this summer. The ex-England international is one of many players the Red Devils are looking to move on.

Fellow forward Jadon Sancho as well as experienced midfielder Casemiro have been put up for sale by the club, as per GOAL. The likes of Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay are also set to leave.

Manchester United are keen to raise money to fund their transfers as they intend to be active in the summer transfer market. The Red Devils are closing in on the duo of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee and Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs De Ligt as their first signings this summer.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is determined to deliver improved results after their struggles in 2023-24, finished eighth in the Premier League. They will look to make a number of additions this summer as they aim to return to the pinnacle of European football.
