Rumour: Fiorentina reject Arsenal’s advances for midfielder Juan Cuadrado

Arsenal have failed in an attempt to sign Colombian midfielder Juan Cuadrado, as Arsene Wenger endured a frustrating deadline day after missing out on several targets including Julian Draxler, according to The Metro.
The 25 year-old was linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the January transfer window and Wenger finally made a late bid for his services on Friday.
However, Serie A side Fiorentina rejected The Gunners advances immediately, with the deal complicated by the fact that the player is still part owned by Udinese who are are unwilling to sell.
Despite being linked with a number of highly coveted names, Wenger ultimately failed to deliver the calibre of signing many North Londoners expected.
The arrival of a striker was deemed a necessity due to an over reliance on Olivier Giroud, while the club’s perceived abundance of midfielders has been called into doubt following an injury to Aaron Ramsey.
One positive point for Arsenal was the arrival of Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom, but with a gruelling fixture list ahead of them Wenger may not have done enough to end the club’s trophy drought this season.
The purchase of Mesut Ozil led many experts to believe Wenger would now be willing to spend a chunk of the club’s large resources, but once again few have been able to second guess the Frenchman’s logic.
Cuadrado has just one goal from 16 appearances this season.
