Rumour: Florentino Perez in Qatar to discuss potential PSG move for Cristiano Ronaldo
According to France Football, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez was present in Qatar in a meeting with the owners of PSG. It is believed that he was there to negotiate the transfer of Madrid’s star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The information was also reported by the Spanish press and El Confidencial. Although it isn’t clear why he was there, it is difficult to rule out any hypothesis, especially as PSG now can operate without the burden of the Financial Fair Play rules. The theory making the rounds is that Perez was there to discuss the former Manchester United man’s future.
PSG in the fray after FFP relaxation
The Financial Fair Play Rules were reduced significantly by UEFA recently, therefore enabling the owners of the Paris club to pursue their transfer interests, with Ronaldo being one of them.
PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had welcomed the decision of UEFA and termed it as ”fair and constructive.” Le Parisiens have shown interest in signing Ronaldo in the past and Perez may now be considering selling him to the French club.
Ronaldo-Perez rift adds to the speculation
If reports from AS are to be believed, the star is at loggerheads with Perez. The apparent rift is because Ronaldo feels that his opinion was not taken into account when it came to the sacking of the manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
The player from Madeira also feels he was not supported well enough by the club after the fallout of his birthday party being held the same night after his side’s 4-0 loss to Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
It was also said that the Portuguese international was miffed when his new role as ‘number 9’ under the new manager, Rafa Benitez, was communicated via the media rather than club’s official channels.
Zlatan may be part of the deal
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was also reported to be part of the discussion in Qatar, and Florentino Perez is rumoured to be ready to launch an audacious bid for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is reportedly on his way to AC Milan, as per reports in the Dailymail.
Florentino Perez is hopeful of snatching the Swedish striker from the hands of the Rossoneri, and would be willing to offer the maverick striker a whopping 12 million salary per season for a three-year deal.
