Rumour: Inter Milan line up summer move for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel
Italian giants Inter Milan are reportedly planning a summer move for Chelsea’s defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel.
Inter, under the new ownership of Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, are keen on building a strong squad for next season and believe that they have a chance of luring Mikel to the San Siro.
The Nigerian joined Chelsea in 2006 and has made over 200 appearances for the London club. Mikel has also won one Premier League title, four FA Cups, one League Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League during his stay at Chelsea.
The 26-year old, however, faces increasing competition from the likes of Nemanja Matic, Ramires and the ever present Frank Lampard for a spot in Chelsea’s central midfield duo.
Mikel has started just 9 games for Chelsea in the Premier League this season. The midfielder has made 20 appearances in the League and has a goal and an assist to show for his efforts.
Chelsea have supposedly put a £12.5m price tag on the Nigerian, while Inter are hoping they can negotiate a cheaper price.
