Rumour: Inter Milan want to sign Chelsea’s Fernando Torres and Spurs’ Erik Lamela
Serie A giants Inter Milan are interested in signing unsettled Premier League misfits Fernando Torres and Erik Lamela in the summer, according to reports.
Two Italian newspapers have published reports linking the unsettled Chelsea and Tottenham men to the San Siro outfit, who could both be persuaded to leave their respective clubs.
Argentinian midfielder Lamela made a £30 million move to north London as recently as last summer, but has failed to force his way into the Spurs team.
Injuries have effected Erik Lamela’s season and he is just one of several Lilywhites players that have not settled at the club following a big money move.
With Tim Sherwood rumoured to be willing to take a significant financial hit to sell the youngster a move to Internazionale would suit Lamela as he looks to rebuild his shattered confidence.
Meanwhile, Torres has endured a disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge individually, although he has added to his trophy collection during his time in west London.
The Spaniard was regarded as one of the world’s best strikers when he joined the Blues for £50 million in January 2011 but now struggles for game time under Jose Mourinho.
The Chelsea boss is believed to be willing to allowed Torres to leave the club, but Internazionale are believed to prefer a loan deal for the 30-year-old.
However, a move to Italy may well be one of few options open to Torres as he enters the twilight years of his career and Chelsea look to trim their huge wage bill.
Nerazzurri manager Walter Mazzarri is set to be handed a significant transfer budget to build a side capable of challenging for a Champions League and clearly believes he can give to of the biggest flops in England’s top tier a new lease of life.
