Rumour: Is Berbatov on his way to Arsenal?

Berbatov

Although Arsenal have had a stunning start to the season, they still look a light up front, even though Giroud has been in fantastic form. Arsene Wenger is looking to rectify this by bringing ex-Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov to Arsenal, when the January transfer window opens.

Meulensteen told Sky Sports that he “will never stand in the way of people’s ambitions.” He went onto add that Berbatov “is an immense player” and one that “any manager would want in his team”. With the Fulham boss making it clear that he will not stand in Berbatov’s way if the striker wishes to move away from the Cottage, it should make it easier for Wenger to sign the Bulgarian striker. Having agreed that he requires the services of another striker to boost Arsenal’s title charge, the Bulgarian would be an ideal fit.

With just six months left on his Fulham contract Arsenal could get the 32-year-old for next to nothing in January. With Wenger still wary of letting loose his purse strings, Berbatov could be just the player he was looking for. Although the striker hasn’t had the greatest of seasons so far, having scored just one goal at Fulham, on his day, he still is one of the most lethal strikers in the League and one that could fit right in with Arsenal’s style of play.

The Bulgarian has been unable to replicate the form that saw him win the Premier League Golden boot with Manchester United. Although his time at Spurs, might meant that he might come in for some stick at the outset, Arsenal might just be able to provide the Bulgarian striker with the stage that he covets. With his agent claiming that the striker is looking “to find another option”, Arsenal might just be the perfect place for the Bulgarian to showcase his skills.
