Jose Mourinho wants to sign 30-year-old Manchester United star at Fenerbahce: Reports

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keeping tabs on Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof. The 30-year-old Swede has been at Old Trafford since 2017 but has slipped down the pecking order recently.

Lindelof has appeared just once this season, with that appearance coming off the bench in the goalless Premier League draw at Aston Villa last weekend. With his deal expiring next summer, there's a good chance that the Swede could be allowed to leave.

Erik ten Hag's side brought Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt this summer to add to Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire, leaving Lindelof seemingly surplus to requirements.

As per Caught Offside, Fenerbahce could offer the chance of regular football to Lindelof, who will be free to strike a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

In 260 appearances across competitions, Lindelof has contributed four goals and seven assists for the Red Devils. Considering his reduced role and game time this season, it's likely that the Swede won't stay at Old Trafford beyond the ongoing campaign.

Manchester United have had a difficult start to the season since starting their campaign with a shootout defeat to Manchester City in the FA Community Shield in August.

A 1-0 home win over Fulham in their Premier League opener proved to be a false dawn as Erik ten Hag's side have won just one of their next six league games, losing three, including 3-0 home defeats to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

United are winless in five games across competitions following the aforementioned goalless stalemate at Villa, which dropped them to 14th in the standings, 10 points behind leaders Liverpool (18). The Red Devils - who haven't scored in three league outings - next face Brentford at home on October 19 following the ongoing international break.

Ten Hag's side are also winless in Europe. After drawing 1-1 at home to FC Twente, Ten Hag's former team, United drew 3-3 at Porto just days before the Villa draw in the Premier League, heaping the pressure on the Dutchman.

United's only other league win - apart from the Fulham one - came at Southamton, where they won 3-0, which was followed by a 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley in their EFL Cup opener. Since then, though, Ten Hag's side haven't won in five games, losing once.
