Rumour: Juventus looking to sign Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder

Wesley Sneijder had a stint in the Serie A with Inter Milan

Italian giants Juventus have said that they are looking to sign Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder. The Dutchman is currently in his third season at the Turkish club and has scored 4 goals in 21 appearances for them across all competitions so far this season.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri said that the club was on the look out of an attacking midfielder and the addition of the 30-year-old would complete an already strong looking squad.

Sneijder has tremendous technical quality: Allegri

“It’s not easy to reinforce Juve but we have some very clear ideas and it’s no secret that we are looking for an attacking midfielder and a defender,” he said.

“Sneijder has tremendous technical quality and would complete an already very strong part of the team, creating competition for places. He wouldn’t be able to play in the Champions League but we have to be realistic and see who is out there,” he added.

Prior to joining Galatasaray in 2012, Sneijder represented Inter Milan for three-and-half seasons and had a good time over there, scoring 22 goals in 116 games, across all competitions and was also part of the side that won the Champions League in 2010.

The mindset will be most important: Allegri

Juventus’ first game of the new year is on Tuesday against Inter and Allegri felt that the mindset of the players will determine the eventual outcome of the game.

“The first game of the year is always a strange one. The team that stays the most focused and alert will emerge victorious. It won’t come down to physical condition or technique, it will be mindset and mindset alone,” the 47-year-old said.

“The players have returned from their holidays fired up and raring to go. We won’t be suffering a hangover after Doha. I always like to win and unfortunately it didn’t happen in Qatar, but we played well and the game was only settled after 15 penalties were converted during the shootout,” he added.
