Rumour: Juventus target Manchester United winger Nani
Nani
The Express have reported that Juventus are reportedly aiming to rescueNani from Manchester United, as they have made him their number one target for January.
Juve currently sit top of the Serie A table, but crashed out of the Champions Leagueafter their defeat to Galatasaray, leaving Antonio Conte looking to strengthen his squad.
Nani is the man they have identified to bolster their options, and it could be a move that benefits all parties, with the Portuguese winger having played a bit-part role in David Moyes side this season.
He has played 90 minutes on just one occasion in the Premier League so far, with manager Moyes calling for a greater level of consistency from a man who has flattered to deceive in his career at Old Trafford.
At 27 years old, potential has long past him by and United could be prepared to cut their losses on Nani and offload him onto pastures new.
Nani has created 11 chances in his eight domestic appearances, which places him fifth in the Red Devils’ creative force despite playing fewer minutes, though he is yet to claim an assist.
However, he has been wild with his shooting, hitting the target on just three occasions this season, without scoring, with an accuracy rating of just 27%, while he has also connected with just 77% of his passes, with only Rafael of United’s regular outfield players doing worse.
Nani was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester in the summer, with Monaco mooted as potential suitors, but a move failed to materialise.
Juventus will test United’s resolve once again come the re-opening of the transfer window, and it would appear that the reigning champions will be willing to do business in order to raise funds to strengthen a squad that has failed to live up to expectations so far this campaign.
