Rumour: Leighton Baines all set to join Manchester United

Leighton Baines

The Daily Star reports that Everton left-back Leighton Baines might not feature in Everton colours any more, after he suffered from an injury in his right foot against Liverpool and has been ruled out for up to six weeks.

Manchester United will reportedly yet again place a bid for the left-back in the January transfer window. They are expected to increase their bid value as they failed to land the defender during the summer.

If United successfully rope in Baines, the match against Liverpool would be his last match for The Toffees.

Leighton Baines was hurt when Jordan Henderson stepped on his foot, and he had an X-ray over the weekend.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is hoping he will come back soon but admits he might not be fit until the new year.

He said: “It could mean anything from missing six weeks to being back in 10 days because it depends how the fracture heals.”
