Rumour: Liverpool and Arsenal join Manchester United in the race to sign Bayern’s Thomas Muller
Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly joined the chase to sign Thomas Muller in the summer after it was rumoured that the German international was unsettled at Bayern Munich and contemplating an exit from the club he joined as a child, according to Bild.
Muller has been considering joining Louis van Gaal at Manchester United after becoming disillusioned with life at the Allianz Arena this season, with manager Pep Guardiola rotating him in and out of the side.
Muller would prefer to be a first team regular and has received no guarantees from Guardiola and his unhappiness has alerted the Premier League, with Liverpool and Arsenal joining the chase for his signature in the summer.
Arsenal are in dire need of striking reinforcements after Arsene Wenger admitted that he should have signed an alternative to Olivier Giroud last summer, with the Frenchman suffering from fatigue under the burden of being the Gunners’ only senior striker.
The North London club are linked with a host of strikers around Europe, including Muller’s teammate Mario Mandzukic, but the potential availability of the German has perked up their interest, with compatriots Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski encouraging a move.
Liverpool have also shown their interest in the German international, but with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge having enjoyed fine seasons, it is unlikely that the Reds could offer Muller the guaranteed spot he is looking for, while the Merseyside club might also baulk at the £35million price tag Bayern have placed upon their star’s head.
