Liverpool and Arsenal set to battle Manchester City for La Liga star - Reports
Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly joined the fray for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, a Manchester City target. The 20-year-old was a part of Spain's gold medal-winning team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Having emerged from the ranks at Valencia, Mosquera - one of the best young defenders in the Spanish top flight - has caught the attention of multiple top clubs from across the continent.
As per TBR, Atletico Madrid were interested in his services this summer, with an asking price of £20 million reported. It's believed that Los Che could part with the 2024 Golden Boy shortlist nominee for the same amount, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City apparently willing to snap him up.
The son of Colombian parents initially took up basketball before switching to futsal and then football. Having made his first-team debut for Los Che at the age of 17, Mosquera has made 60 appearances across competitions. That includes 11 this season - all in La Liga - where Valencia are rock-bottom with a solitary win in 10 games.
Los Che boss Miguel-Angel Angulo said about the young defender's characteristics:
“He’s characterised by a physical condition and good technical qualities, powerful in the air, and mature for his age.”
As per the aforementioned report, apart from Arsenal, Liverpool and City, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen are also keeping tabs on Mosquera.
What's next for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City?
Arsenal have been in inconsistent form following a strong start to the season. They have won twice in their last five games across competitions, losing twice, including a 1-0 Premier League loss at Newcastle United at the weekend.
Mikel Arteta's side - fifth in the league - will seek a return to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League when they travel to Inter Milan on Wednesday (November 6).
Meanwhile, Liverpool have made a strong start to life under new boss Arne Slot, who replaced the legendary Jurgen Klopp in the summer. The Reds are two points clear atop the Premier League after 10 games.
Following a 4-0 midweek home win over Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool are also atop the UEFA Champions League leaderboard following four straight wins. They next take on Aston Villa at home in the Premier League on Saturday.
However, Manchester City are in a bit of a slump, with a 4-1 midweek loss at Sporting CP in the Champions League marking their third straight loss across competitions. Pep Guardiola's side next travel to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
