Rumour: Liverpool make bid for Southampton star Adam Lallana
Liverpool have reportedly made a bid for Southampton captian, Adam Lallana.
The 26-year-old has been a key member of Southampton’s squad, scoring 9 goals and providing 6 assists in 42 appearances for the club. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly been watching Lallana for some time and wants him in his squad in order to strengthen his squad for next season.
Lallana is set to be picked for the England World Cup squad and has admitted that he wants to play at a higher level saying, “I’m ambitious. I want to one day play in the Champions League.”
Southampton chairman, Ralph Krueger, said he expected interest in his star players: “The reason people look at our players is because the club does an excellent job developing them. It should be difficult here every summer.”
“It is really important that people respect that there will be conversations going on, beginning on Monday, with clubs. That is part of the business.”
Team-mate Luke Shaw is also linked with a move away from St. Mary’s with Manchester United reportedly making a £27 million bid for the defender.
