Rumour: Liverpool in for Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson (L)

Icelandic international, Gylfi Sigurdsson is a player who Brendan Rodgers has shown a keen interest for, in the recent past. Liverpool are looking to swoop for the attacking midfielder in January, who escaped their clutches when he joined Tottenham Hotspur last season.

Sigurdsson has seen limited football this season, as Tootenham spent the nearly 107 million pounds on new summer recruits. The 24-year old had a blistering start to the campaign, but has been in and out of the side since.

The Merseysiders will look to buy him in a bargain deal, which will strengthen their midfield ranks and provide the much needed flexibility in the absence of injured striker, Daniel Sturridge.

The Spurs star is said to favour a move to Anfield where he will play under Brendan Rodgers, whom he knows well from his time at Swansea City, where he had successful loan spell.
