Rumour: Liverpool interested in Benfica's Rodrigo Moreno
Benfica manager Jorge Jesus has revealed that Liverpool are interested in the Portuguese outfit’s forward, Rodrigo Moreno, reports the Daily Mail.
Several Premier League clubs sent scouts to watch the Brazilian in action during Benfica’s Europa League victory over Tottenham Hotspur but the 23-year-old was on the bench.
However, the striker has produced a string of impressive displays throughout the campaign and is widely expected to leave the club in the summer, with Jesus insisting he is not surprised that the forward has gained admiring glances from the Anfield giants.
“It’s normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window.
“The league is full of high quality players so it’s normal for other clubs to be interested,” he declared.
The youngster has played in England before, with an unimpressive loan spell with Bolton Wanderers as a 17-year-old, but Liverpool remain keen on a deal.
The Merseysiders interest has forced Rodrigo to enter into negotiations over his future with Benfica but the player’s father and agent is adamant his son will continue to give his all for the club during the remainder of the campaign.
“Rodrigo is going through a good moment. I expect to meet the club at the end of the season.
“We want the best for the player and for the club, but at the moment Rodrigo is only concentrating on Benfica and winning titles at the end of the season,” Adalberto Machado insisted.
