Rumour: Liverpool scout Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka

Liverpool have maintained their interest in Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka as the Merseysiders sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old in action against Tottenham Hotspur in their Europa League last-32 clash, according to reports in the Metro.

The Ukraine international, who can operate on either flank and is highly-rated around the continent, has continued to fuel interest in his signature with a string of impressive performances for Juande Ramos’ side this term.

The midfielder, who is keen on a move to the Premier League, produced an inspired display against Tim Sherwood’s men on Thursday night, scoring the winning penalty late on to give his side a 1-0 lead to defend during the second leg at White Hart Lane.

Having initially attracted interest due to his performance against England in a World Cup qualifier, Brendan Rodgers was keen to add Konoplyanka to his squad but could not complete the switch before the deadline.

The Anfield-based outfit failed with a £16 million bid for the 24-year-old, but have retained an interest in the midfielder, with a view to launching another offer to sign him in the summer.

The Northern Irishman was initially thought to have ended his interest to pursue other targets but new reports believe that Brendan Rodgers’ team of trusted scouting experts will travel to London to watch the playmaker in the return leg suggest a move to Anfield is still a distinct possibility.

However, Spurs are also believed to be seriously interested in the player themselves and could look to hijack any proposed move to Merseyside.
