Rumour: Liverpool enters race to sign Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos

Sports Direct News reports that Premier League giants Liverpool have entered the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos.

Liverpool’s fiercest rival Manchester United were the first club to show interest in the 24-year-old midfielder. But now if rumours are to be believed, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers too is keen to rope in the German.

The Liverpool midfield had performed impressively so far this season under Rodgers, but the loss of Lucas Leiva to injury and Steven Gerrard’s rapidly advancing years has highlighted a need for world class replacements.

Although a fee of around £25 million would be required to tip Bayern into parting with the midfielder. However, with competition fierce in the Bayern midfield, the young midfielder may fancy a challenge abroad.

Liverpool would also face tough competition from rivals Manchester United as they were the first to show interest for the midfielder.
