Rumour: Louis Van Gaal wants Arjen Robben at Man United
Louis Van Gaal has reportedly set his sights on a reunion with his fellow Dutchman Arjen Robben, as he plots his first moves as manager of Manchester United, according to the Daily Express.
Van Gaal is expected is be officially named the next manager of Manchester United next week after weeks of speculation, and he has already drawn up a list of names he wants to join him at Old Trafford, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Mats Hummels and Stefan de Vrij all reported targets for Man United now.
Van Gaal has now also identified clear weaknesses on the wings for United and is hoping that he can use his time in charge of the Netherlands national team to convince Robben to join him at United next season.
The Dutch boss has always favoured signing Dutch players even during his time at Barcelona and Bayern Munich and with him currently being in charge of the national team, he has even more sway than usual and could exercise his power to convince a few of his compatriots to join him at Old Trafford next season.
Arjen Robben has been in fine form for Bayern Munich again this season, but it is believed that Pep Guardiola is not the biggest fan of the winger and would be open to offers for Robben, should the price be right, giving Van Gaal hope of landing one of his potential stars of the World Cup at club level too.
