Rumour: Man City and Chelsea both target Monaco’s Layvin Kurzawa
Manchester City and Chelsea have both reportedly sent scouts out to run the rule over Layvin Kurzawa of Monaco, with the Premier League duo believing they are not to find any joy in their pursuit of Southampton’s Luke Shaw, according to the Daily Star.
Shaw is believed to favour a move to David Moyes’ Manchester United sideshould he opt to leave Southampton in the summer, leaving both clubs to extend their searches in their hunt for a new left-back.
Kurzawa has emerged as an alternative, with the 21-year-old earning rave reviews in France for his performances on the left-hand side of the Monaco defence, despite having started his career as a midfielder in the principality club’s youth system.
Despite Monaco possessing heavy financial backing, Kurzawa has maintained his position in the squad and has represented France at every youth level, with many now touting him for a call-up to France’s World Cup squad this summer.
His performances have not gone unnoticed in England either and Chelsea could look to make it a double influx of promising young French talent, having already signed Kurt Zouma from St Etienne in January, with the centre-back due to link up with the Blues at the end of the season.
Manchester City are also keen on bringing Kurzawa to the Premier League, while Bayern Munich are also said to be in the race for his signature.
