Rumour: Manchester City to bid for Bayern centre back Dante

Premier League side Manchester City are being linked with a move for Bayern Munich centre back Dante according to Sportbild.

Both Bayern Munich and Manchester City are yet to confirm anything yet, although the deal seems pretty much a fantasy as Bayern are short at the back as Holger  Badstuber was ruled out last year until the end of the season. This leaves Jerome Boateng,  Daniel Van Buyten and Dante as the only fit centre backs.

Van Buyten is 35 years old and cannot be expected to play every game. So, if the rumours are true then it would take a very substantial bid to make Bayern sell their Brazilian defender.

Manuel Pellegrini on the other hand will be able to recall Matija Nastasic after his injury lay off and may not try his hand in the transfer market  if he feels his squad can cope.
