Rumour: Manchester United to match £20 million transfer fee for Everton's Leighton Baines
Manchester United are said to be willing to meet the £20 million valuation of Everton for long time target Leighton Baines.
The Englishman has been a rock at the back for Everton for many years, which subsequently earned him an England call up. The left back rose to prominence under David Moyes, with steady performances in defense. The 29-year-old has a lethal left foot, and is equally adept at going forward as he is defending.
He has been on the Red Devil’s radar for some time now, and speculation gathered momentum after David Moyes was linked with the hot seat at Old Trafford.
Current United left back Patrice Evra has had a poor season so far, being exposed in defense on more occasions than one. With the Frenchman not getting any younger, Leighton Baines would be the ideal fit at Manchester, given the brand of football they play.
With David Moyes in pole position to land his former player, the Scot may be well on his way to stamping his imprint on the squad.
