Rumour: Manchester United to rival Arsenal for Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado
Manchester United are preparing to rival Arsenal this summer for the signature of Juan Cuadrado, who is currently plying his trade for Fiorentina.
Arsenal are long-term suitors of the Colombian, having tracked his progress for a number of years, and rumours had suggested they could firm up that interest with a concrete bid at the end of the season, as they plot ahead with moves to strengthen their squad again after having witnessed their title challenge fall apart, once again.
But according to Talk Sport, United have now emerged as a potential destination for the winger, with David Moyes looking to improve his options out wide after the underwhelming season his current crop have experienced.
The futures of both Nani and Ashley Young at Old Trafford have been cast into doubt as they have been the targets from sections of the United faithful for criticism, with Moyes having endured a difficult first season in charge.
The United manager has preferred to use the flanks heavily in his playing style this season, much to the chagrin of the support, but rather than abandon this policy, he is looking to bring in more proven men to fill those spaces in the team.
Cuadrado has impressed in Italy, enough to have attracted the interest of both Bayern Munich and Barcelona as well as the Premier League duo, and his future is very much up in the air given the co-ownership deal between Fiorentina and Udinese and the pair yet to agree on a deal that would see him commit himself to just one club.
Juan Cuadrado has completed 101 take-ons in Serie A this season for Fiorentina. Only Eden Hazard has achieved more in the Premier League.
