Rumour: Manchester United set to break transfer record for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal

Vidal: the answer to United’s midfield woes?

Manchester United boss David Moyes, is set to break United’s transfer record for Juventus star Artur0 Vidal.

The Chilean has been on United’s radar for quite some time now with reported interest since the Ferguson era, to bolster their ever flailing midfield.

Although, Vidal has throughout stated his desire to stay in Turin, but according to French newspaper Le 10 Sport, may be persuaded to change his mind with a bumper contract.

United have had a torrid season thus far, under new boss Moyes, and  lost last night at Old Trafford to another mid-table team Tottenham. The defending champions find themselves in 7th place in the league and a part of the blame lies on their lack-luster midfield. Tom Cleverly has not lived up to his potential, with summer signing Fellaini hardly having any considerable impact. Anderson’s United career is all but over now, having featured sparsely over the course of the season.

Vidal looks like the ideal player to sort out the problem’s in United’s midfield. Vidal who is known for his composure is the club’s first choice Penalty taker and is also known for being both combative and creative in midfield, having played an important part in Juventus’s resurgence in the Serie A in recent years. But the Old Lady’s failure to qualify for the knockout stages of Champions League and little if any chances of winning the prized silverware, Vidal just might agree to switch clubs to United, provided they have a good plan in place.

It would still be something of a coup if David Moyes managed to pull off the deal, Vidal having only signed a new deal at the club last month.

United have tried and failed to lure a host of big names in the previous years including this summer, namely, Wesley Sneijder, Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara among many others.

Moyes is expected to be a busy man over the next month with a list of famous faces linked with January moves.
