Manchester United and Chelsea face competition from European giants for Swedish striker - Reports

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly in the fray with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for the services of AIK Solna striker Jonah Kusi-Asare.

The 16-year-old Swede - standing six-foot-five - is touted to be one of the most promising emerging talents in Europe. He has made four first-team appearances for Solna and scored a hat-trick in Sweden U17's recent 3-2 win over their Moldovian counterparts.

As per HITC, a slew of top clubs are monitoring Kusi-Asare's progress. Bayern are said to be at the front of the queue, where United and Chelsea are joined by European giants Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Atletico Madrid.

Both United and Chelsea are in need of attacking reinforcements, but Kusi-Asare would be more of an investment for the future if he arrives at either Premier Legue club. HITC reports that Bayern have already submitted a bid for the lanky striker, whom Solna is open to sell when his stock is high.

Erik ten Hag's United are eighth in the Premier League after 20 games, 14 points behind leaders Liverpool. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino's Blues are two points and three places behind the Red Devils, despite splurging nearly £450 million in the summer.

Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 in their Premier League meeting last month. Either side of a 45th-minute Cole Palmer strike, Scott McTominay scored to give the Red Devils all three points in the home clash.

The out-of-form Marcus Rashford and Anthony were dropped from the United starting XI for Antony and summer arrival Rasmus Hojlund. The changes had the desired effect.

McTominay fired Ten Hag's side into a 19th-minute lead after captain Bruno Fernandes had missed an eight-minute penalty before Palmer levelled proceedings for the Blues on the cusp of half-time.

McTominay, though, scored again, 21 minutes from time, converting Alejandro Garnacho's cross as United moved to within three points off the top-four.
