Manchester United dealt transfer blow as Chelsea make contact with £60m-rated star's club regarding possible move - Reports
Manchester United have suffered a blow in the race to sign Michael Oise, as Chelsea have opened talks with Crystal Palace. The Blues have jumped ahead in the queue and are pushing for the Frenchman's signature.
As per Daily Mail, the Blues have made their first move for Olise and have approached Palace. The Frenchman has a £60 million clause in his contract, but it's is not a regular release clause that can be activated by any club.
Any club interested in signing the Frenchman needs to contact Palace first before approaching the player. Olise had a similar clause last summer, but the Blues made the move and contacted the player, and he ended up signing a new contract at Selhurst Park.
Teddy Sheringham, speaking about Olise to Genting Casino, urged United to beat the Blues to the signing:
"I'd like to see Michael Olise as a Manchester United player. He has been at the top of his game for Crystal Palace over the last few months of the season, and he should be at the top of United's wishlist.
"I like him as a winger and United should be looking at players who are the main reason for their current club doing well, in this case Crystal Palace. Top players like that, United should be in for them."
Daily Mail has reported that Chelsea are open to using fringe players in a player + cash deal for Olise. Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah have been named by the publication as players the Blues could use this summer.
Arsenal were urged to sign Chelsea and Manchester United by Emmanuel Petit
Emmanuel Petit told Grosvenor Sport in May that Arsenal needed to sign Michael Olise this summer. He reckons the Gunners need a backup for Bukayo Saka, and the Frenchman is an ideal fit:
"Arsenal should do everything they can to sign him over Man United and Chelsea. He did some tricks during the game – and so did Eze – where in my day they would have left the stadium on crutches. I thought they were taking the p**s and so lucky they play in 2024. In seriousness though, I thought Olise and Eze were incredible.
"If I had to choose I'd have both, but Olise is more what Arsenal need on the right-flank. Having both him and Saka would be very good for Arsenal because they still need that, and Olise has improved so much over the last few years. If I'm Olise, I'd choose Arsenal too, as I want ambition in my career, and my place is not at Crystal Palace anymore."
Apart from Chelsea and Manchester United, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Olise.
