Rumour: Manchester United to sign Edison Cavani?

Paris Saint-Germain’s Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani celebrates after scoring a goal during a French L1 football match between Valenciennes and Paris Saint-Germain on September 25, 2013 at the Stade du Hainaut in Valenciennes, northern France.

Steve Bates of the Sunday People has come with a bizarre story that Manchester United manager David Moyes has been handed a sensational £150m transfer budget and has made superstar-striker Edinson Cavani his top target.

Cavani had joined PSG last summer from Napoli for £55m, but apparently he is not impressed with the French League and wants to be a star in the Premier League and Manchester United could be his possible destination.

David Moyes took a trip to Paris to watch PSG beat Bordeaux in the French League Cup last week, and hinted a major signing is on the cards.

“Judging by trips I’ve made recently and the things I am hearing, what has happened so far this season won’t be an issue when we sign players,” he said.

“The amount of big players wanting to join Manchester United is incredible.”

“Maybe players want to go to other clubs for the money but if you ask them where they really want to be, what club they really want to wear the badge of, they want to wear the badge of Manchester United.”

“It’s because of the club and what it stands for in world terms.”

Edison Cavani is being touted as Wayne Rooney‘s replacement as the latter’s contract is up for expiration next year.
