Rumour: Manchester United in contact with PSG over Edinson Cavani transfer
Manchester United have been in contact with Edinson Cavani’s agents according to reports in Le10Sport magazine, writes Sport Witness.
The 27-year-old Uruguyan feels that Laurent Blanc has reneged on assurances offered to him before he signed for Paris Saint-Germain.
Le10 also state that United are willing to match Cavani’s €9.5m wage demands – a figure that would fall below Wayne Rooney’s current salary – but are waiting for the go-ahead from Cavani’s representatives before they lodge an official bid.
PSG are ready to pull out all the stops to convince the former Napoli man to stay in the captial, but Cavani is reluctant to put his trust in individuals he believes abused it in the past.
Cavani has played second-fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovich since his move to France, forcing him play in an unfavoured wide position. His on-field troubles have been further compounded by rumours of an affair and a well-publicised divorce from the mother of his children.
With Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie competing for the lone striker role at Manchester United, Cavani would have another fight on his hands if he elected to leave PSG after just one season
