Rumour: Manchester United keen to lure Harrison Reed to Old Trafford
Manchester United are considering making a move for Southampton youngster Harrison Reed at the end of the season, as they look to shake up their squad in a summer rebuild.
David Moyes has been given a reported £150 million to spend in the summer in order to reinvigorate his underachieving squad, with United down in seventh currently and looking unlikely to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1996.
Several world class players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but there is also an ideal to buy some young players to blood into the team, according to TalkSport.
Reed is the latest off Southampton’s production line and has risen through the youth ranks to make his first senior appearance during the 1-1 draw with Manchester City in December.
Southampton have produced a string of exciting talent recently, with the likes of Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers and James Ward-Prowse having all made an impression in the first team so far.
Shaw is also a target of United’s for the summer and they could target Reed as well, with Saints’ academy coaches likening him to United legend Paul Scholes in terms of his passing range, tactical discipline and tenacity in midfield.
