Rumour: Manchester United looking to bring Napoli's Gokhan Inler to Old Trafford

David Moyes has apparently added one more name to the list of potential midfield signings for the January transfer window by adding Gokhan Inler to the mix.

According to Sports Direct News, the 29-year old Swiss international is Moyes’ latest midfield target as he looks to strengthen that department in particular.

The defensive midfielder is into his third season at Napoli & rumours suggest that Inler has been put on the transfer market by Napoli’s manager Rafa Benitez as he looks to bring in some of his preferred players in the January window.

With United struggling in the midfield & looking to add new players to bolster that area, Inler’s availability for a relatively modst transfer fee might tempt David Moyes to make a bid. Although Inler is more of a destroyer he is quite capable of distributing the ball forward & can chip in with a few goals. United will do well to grab a more attack minded player no doubt but if Inler can break up play effectively, Michael Carrick may be given the licence to play in more advanced positions.

Marouane Fellaini & Darren Fletcher, David Moyes’s go-to options as defensive midfielders, have both been troubled by problems of their own with the former having not quite settled at Manchester United & the latter still in the early stages of his recovery from a chronic bowel condition. With that being the case, Inler might be a good buy if he comes for a reasonable fee.
