Manchester United star waiting for Ten Hag to be sacked before making decision about future - Reports

Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire is reportedly awaiting his boss Erik ten Hag to be sacked before he decides his future at the club. The 31-year-old is out of contract in the summer.

Since arriving from Leicester City in the summer of 2019, the Englishman spent a few seasons as the first choice cente-back before falling out of favour under Ten Hag, who arrived in 2022.

Maguire was stripped of the club captaincy and was close to leaving before he redeemed himself with 22 Premier League appearances last season, scoring twice and assisting thrice.

However, the Englishman's future at Old Trafford remains uncertain beyond the summer. As per Football Insider, Maguire is waiting for Ten Hag's sack before he decides his future at the club.

The Dutchman's future at Old Trafford is uncertain following a hugely underwhelming start to the season. Although his deal was extended till 2026 in the summer, Ten Hag's side are 11th in the Premier League after eight games.

The Red Devils snapped a five-game winless streak across competitions with a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Brentford in the league on Saturday (October 19). Maguire didn't play due to a muscle injury picked up during the goalless league draw at Aston Villa just before the October international break and is expected to be out for a few weeks.

Having returned to winning ways after six matches at the weekend, Manchester United will look to continue their momentum when they visit Turkish side Fenerbahce on matchday three of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday (October 24).

The Red Devils have had an underwhelming start to their European campaign, drawing 1-1 at home to Ten Hag's former side FC Twente before playing out a 3-3 draw at FC Porto on matchday two.

Following their trip to Turkey, United continue their Premier League campaign with a trip to West Ham United on Sunday (October 27), seeking consecutive league wins for the first time this season.
