Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte’s mother fainted during Liverpool ace Darwin Nunez’s clash with Colombia fans at Copa America: Reports

Marca reports that the mother of Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte fainted during Colombia fans' clash with Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez. The clash between the Uruguay players and opposing fans happened after their 1-0 2024 Copa America 1-0 semi-final loss earlier this week.

After the match, the families of the Uruguayans were swarmed and abused by Colombian fans, which led Nunez and a few other players to head into the stands and get into a fist fight.

Speaking via Marca about the incident, Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez slammed the organisers of the tournament:

"They stormed all our families, A certain sector of Colombia fans, and they won't let us speak on the microphone. I'm going to say it now because I know I can because if not they'll cut you off. This is a disaster. Our family is in danger. We had to get on the top of the stands ASAP to rescue our loved ones. With newborn babies, it was a disaster."

He added:

"There was not a single policeman. Officers popped in after a half an hour. It was a disaster. And we were there facing the consequences for our people. I hope that those who are organizing this are a little more careful with the families, with the people and with the people around in the stadiums. It's a disaster because all the matches are the same."
"Our families are suffering because of some who drink one or two shots of alcohol that don't know how to drink. Who behave like children and are not decent."

Fortunately, the players' families got away unscathed from the melee that could have gotten uglier. Neither Nunez nor the Manchester United target have commented publicly on the clash with Colombian fans.

Manchester United weighing up signing Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot

According to Nick Semeraro, Manchester United have offered Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot a three-year deal. The former Juventus midfielder is without a club following the expiry of his deal with the Turin-based side .

The report suggests that new Reds boss Arne Slot considers the 29-year-old French midfielder as an ideal option to bolster his midfield. However, Semeraro believes they face competition from other sides for his services.

Rabiot gave a good account of himself at Euro 2024 and would be a fine addition to either Manchester United or Liverpool this summer and would also arrive for free. It remains to be seen if a move to either club materialises.
