Manchester United want to sign £51 million-rated midfielder before pre-season tour: Reports

Manchester United are looking to sign midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain before the start of fheir pre-season, as per HITC.

The Red Devils will go to the United States for their pre-season tour, where they face Arsenal on July 27 in Los Angeles and Liverpool on August 3 in Columbia. Hence, manager Erik ten Hag is keen to complete the signing of Ugarte before pre-season gets underway.

As per the aforementioned report, PSG are ready to sell the Uruguayan midfielder, as they're close to signing Benfica star Joao Neves this summer.

Neves was also on the transfer radar of United, as they were contemplating him as a replacement for former Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, who's expected to leave this summer.

However, as per A Bola (via Sports Witness), Joao Neves is not considering offers from other clubs except PSG. The Ligue 1 giants are also interested in signing the midfielder, and, as a result, they are ready to sell Ugarte.

He joined PSG from Sporting CP last summer for a reported £51 million transfer. Since then, he has made 37 appearances for Les Parisiens across competitions, bagging three assists.

The Red Devils have completed the signing of forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and defender Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille this week.

Manchester United dealt blow in Amadou Onana pursuit

Manchester United reportedly made a bid for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana earlier this week. However, it was rejected by Onana, as he wanted to play for Aston Villa, as per journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The Red Devils made a £50 million offer for Onana. However, the Belgian midfielder rejected the offer because he was keen to join Aston Villa and play under Unai Emery.

Everton signed the Belgian midfielder on a reported £33 million transfer in 2022 from LOSC Lille. Since joining the Toffees, Onana has made 72 appearances across competitions, scoring four goals and assisting three. He was also selected in Belgium's squad for Euro 2024, where he started all four games for Domenico Tedesco's side.

United matched Villa's bid of £50 million for the 22-year-old, but Onana only wants to join the Villains. Apart from Manchester United, Bayern Munich were also interested in signing the Belgian midfielder earlier.
