Pep Guardiola provides fresh update regarding his Manchester City future amid exit rumours - Reports

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about his future amid reports of his exit from the Etihad. The legendary Spaniard has been at the City since the summer of 2016.

Guardiola has undoubtedly created a niche for himself during his near decade-long stay at the Etihad, making City the team to beat in England and Europe, delivering their first continental treble and an unprecedented Premier League four-peat.

However, ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Spaniard's future is under speculation as he enters the final year of his stay at the Etihad. Nevertheless, Guardiola addressed rumours about his exit at a Puma block party in New York (as per GOAL):

"If you love what you do, why should I stop? I like it – as much now as when they hired me – so let’s go."

As per the Daily Mail (via GOAL), City are working to extend the stay of their manager beyond 2025 as Guardiola looks set to continue the club's Premier League domination, having won six of the last seven titles.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City commenced their 2024-25 pre-season with a 4-3 defeat to Celtic in North Carolina on Wednesday (July 24) as their US tour started on a losing note.

In a seven-goal thriller, Nicolas Kuhn gave Celtic a 13th-minute lead before Oscar Bobb restored parity for City 20 minutes later. Kuhn restored City's lead in the 36th minute before Kyogo Furuhashi made it 3-1 a minute before the break.

Guardiola's side hit back through Maximo Perrone in the 46th minute before Erling Haaland restored parity 11 minutes later. Celtic, though, had the last laugh, as Luis Palma's 68th-minute winner settled proceedings.

Next up, the reigning Premier League winners take on AC Milan on Saturday (July 27) at the Yankee Stadium in New York. The Cityzens then take on Barcelona in Orlando three days later before ending their pre-season against Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio, on August 3.

Guardiola's side open their 2024-25 season against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield on August 10 before starting their Premier League title defence at Chelsea eight days later.
