PSG star keen on Real Madrid return, with contract expiring in 2026 - Reports

Former Real Madrid full-back Ashraf Hakimi, now at PSG, is reportedly keen on returning to his former club. The 25-year-old has two goals and an assist in 17 games for Los Blancos between the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.

Now at PSG - whom he joined in the summer of 2021 - Hakimi has contributed 14 goals and 19 assists in 120 games across competitions. That includes five goals and seven assists in 40 appearances across competitions in the recently concldued 2023-24 campaign.

However, despite being contracted with the Parc des Princes till 2026, Hakimi is apparently intent on returning to the Santaigo Bernabeu. As per AS (via Madrid Universal), Los Blancos are internally discussing about a move for their former club.

It's imperative to note that there have been no talks of a contract extension from the Parisians, which could see the Moroccan right-back head to the Spanish capital as he seeks regular game time.

However, even if he heads to the Bernabeu, he might not immediately be a first-team regular, as Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal would be ahead of Hakimi in the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti next season.

It's pertinent to note, though, that a transfer in 2026 on a free transfer could be a more plausible option for both parties, with Vazquez and Carvajal being on the wrong side of 30.

Real Madrid have had a fabulous season, capturing the La Liga and Supercopa Espana titles. They ended their league campaign with a solitary loss, a 3-1 reverse at Atletico Madrid.

The Rojiblancos also handed Ancelotti's side their only other loss this season - in the Copa del Rey Round of 16. However, Madrid have recovered to reach a record-extending 18th UEFA Champions League final.

They will next look to win a record-extending 15th title in the competition at the expense of Borussia Dortmund in the title match at the Wembley in London on Saturday (June 1).
