PSG table €20 million bid for Manchester United midfield target: Reports

PSG have reportedly made an offer of €20 million to snap up Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios, a Manchester United target. The Colombian has been with the Brasileiro Serie A side since March 2023.

Rios, 24, has contributed five goals and two assists in 88 games across competitions for Palmeiras. That includes two goals and an assist in 35 outings across competitions this year.

However, despite being contracted to the Brazilian side till 2026, he has been linked with an exit. While the Red Devils have been interested in his services (as per GOAL), the Parisians have entered the fray, as per PSGhub.

The Colombian midfielder impressed at the 2024 Copa America - scoring once in six games - as Los Cafeteros lost 1-0 in extra time to defending champions Argentina in the Miami final.

Following his exploits at the continental tournament, GOAL reported that the Red Devils were preparing a £17 million for the midfielder. However, despite interest from other sides like AC Milan as well, Palmeiras might not let Rios leave in the middle of the season.

The Alviverde are third in the Brasileiro Serie A after 23 games, five points behind leaders Botafogo.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag reiterated his ambition to win more trophies as the Red Devils commenced their new Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford at the weekend.

After a goalless first half, new signing Joshua Zirkzee came off the bench to net the winner three minutes from time as the Red Devils returned to winning ways following their FA Community Shield defeat to Manchester City on penalties.

Admitting his satisfaction following the Fulham win, Ten Hag told BBC Match of the Day:

"To start the season with a win is always important. We are not ready as a squad, as a team - many players are not up to full fitness. We only had 10 days with this team training together. I expect more from this team, but we have a foundation we can build on.
"The performance is good. Over 90 minutes of course there is room for improvement- but I think, overall, the performance and execution of the gameplan We are very ambitious. Wwant to win more trophies. We want to compete in every league we play in, and now we have a platform."

Manchester United next take on Brighton & Hove Albion away on Saturday (August 24) before welcoming arch-rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford eight days later.
