If reports are to be believed, Real Madrid are targeting midfielder Paulinho in the January transfer window.

The Brazilian moved to Tottenham Hotspur only this summer, in a deal worth £17 million. He was one of the 8 players Spurs brought in, and has become soon become one of their main players this season.

The defensive midfielder has started 17 games in the Premier League so far, chipping in with 2 goals and 2 assists. The 25-year old has endeared himself with the Tottenham faithful, becoming an instant success due to his hard work and skill.

The Los Blancos are looking to lure the star to replace Spaniard Xabi Alonso, who looks destined to leave the Bernebeu. The former Corinthians man will give Carlo Ancelotti more options in midfield with the likes of Luka Modric, Illarramendi and Sami Khedira.

Paulinho, who would be tempted by the prospect of playing for one of the greatest clubs in the history of football, will want first team assurances to play regular football.
