Real Madrid consider launching move to sign Kylian Mbappe’s 27-year-old France teammate: Reports
Real Madrid are reportedly contemplating signing Kylian Mbappe's compatriot Theo Hernandez from AC Milan. The left-back has emerged as a potential option in case Madrid's primary target Alphonso decides to remain at Bayern Munich.
Davies is approaching the final six months of his deal at the Allianz Arena. If a new deal isn't agreed between both parties, he will be eligible to open talks with foreign suitors ahead of a free transfer in the summer.
For a while, the two parties weren't on the same page regarding the financial aspect of the deal. However, as per SPORT (via Madrid Universal), Bayern are apparently confident of keeping the full-back beyond the summer.
The development isn't music for Madrid's ears, so the La Liga giants are eyeing Hernandez, as per Calciomercato (via Madrid Universal). Mbappe's compatriot has a deal with the San Siro side till 2026 and might be available on a cut-price deal in the summer.
The 27-year-old is a regular for club and country and is regarded among the finest active full-backs in the game at the moment. However, Los Blancos won't have a free run at the Frenchman, who's also being eyed by Manchester United. Nevertheless, Hernandez is expected to cost at least €50 million if Milan decide to let him go.
It's pertinent to note that the Frenchman played 23 games, assisting thrice, for Los Blancos before moving to Milan in the summer of 2019. One of the first names on the Rossoneri team sheet, Hernandez has contributed 31 goals and 41 assists in 230 games across competitions for the 2021-22 Serie A champions.
He also has two goals and nine assists in 36 games for France, winning the 2021 UEFA Nations League.
How has Kylian Mbappe fared for Real Madrid?
Kylian Mbappe has had a quiet start to life at Real Madrid since arriving this summer on a free transfer after a prolific seven-season spell with Paris Saint-Germain.
Since scoring on his club debut in the 2-0 UEFA Super Cup win over Atalanta in Warsaw in August, Mbappe has managed a relatively modest tally of 10 goals and two assists in his next 20 games across competitions.
That includes nine goals and an assist in 15 games in La Liga, where Carlo Ancelotti's side trail leaders Barcelona by two points but have a game in hand. Mbappe has also scored once in five Champions League matches.
