Real Madrid earn 6-figure sum from Kylian Mbappe shirt sales in a day ahead of his official announcement - Reports

Real Madrid have reportedly earned a six-figure sum from Kylian Mbappe's shirt sales, ahead of his official announcement. According to El Chiringuito (via Madrid Xtra), Los Blancos sold more than 7,000 shirts in a day, which earned them approximately €800,000.

That's hardly a surprise, as Los Blancos have chased the 2018 World Cup winner for half a decade. Mbappe seemed close to signing in 2022 but eventually renewed for another two years with Paris Saint-Germain. He ran down his contract with the Parisians, thanked them in a public message and announced on social media about joining Madrid.

Real Madrid fans have been excited about Kylian Mbappe's signing and have surged to the club's store to purchase his No. 9 shirt. According to MARCA (via Madrid Universal), the massive surge in demand for Mbappe's shirt has led to significant delivery delays.

While the shirts of other players like Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal take a few days to get shipped, the club's store has announced a delay of 4-6 weeks for delivery. Kylian Mbappe will be unveiled by the club on July 16, after EURO 2024 and Copa America 2024 conclude.

New Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe speaks about poor performances after France crash out of Euro 2024

France fell 2-1 to Spain in the EURO 2024 semi-final. They opened the scoring in the first half but failed to respond to two goals from La Roja, which saw them get eliminaated.

Following the loss, Kylian Mbappe admitted that he didn't meet expectations, scoring once and assisting twice in six games (via Eurosport):

“My Euro was a failure. I wanted to be European champion. … I will now go on holiday. I will rest well. It will do me a lot of good, then I will get ready to start a new life. There's a lot to do."

When the new Real Madrid signing was asked about Spain's comeback through Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo strikes, he responded:

"We opened the scoring. We told ourselves that we were doing the hardest part, but maybe unconsciously we backed down a bit more.
"We put in less panache, less punch, and we conceded two goals in quick succession. Afterwards, we tried to get the machine going again, but it wasn't enough."

Kylian Mbappe will now look for a fresh start as he's set to be announced as the biggest Real Madrid signing of the last decade.
