Real Madrid hold crisis talks after 3-1 loss to AC Milan in the UCL: Reports

Real Madrid have reportedly held 'crisis' talks following their 3-1 capitulation at home to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday (November 5). The loss marked the holders' second defeat in four games this season.

Malick Thiaw drew first blood for the Rossoneri inside 12 minutes before Vinicius Junior restored parity for the hosts from the spot 11 minutes later. However, the Rossoneri went into the break at the Santiago Bernabeu in front, thanks to Alvaro Morata's 39th-minute strike.

With Carlo Ancelotti's side failing to find an equaliser, Tijjani Reijnders extended Milan's lead 17 minutes from time as Paulo Fonseca's men returned home with all three points.

The loss marked Madrid's second on the trot across competitions, with their La Liga game at Valencia last weekend getting postponed due to flood. Before that, Los Blancos were humbled 4-0 at home by league leaders Barcelona in the season's first El Clasico.

Following the twin setbacks, Relevo (as per Tribal Football) has reported that the Madrid hierarchy held talks with Ancelotti on Tuesday night to take stock of the situation.

The Italian's position is not expected to be under immediate threat, but the management seems unhappy with Jude Bellingham failing to replicate last season's heroics and Endrick and Arda Guler not getting enough game time.

While Ancelotti is not walking on thin ice just yet, the experienced campaigner knows that he needs a quick turnaround in his team's fortunes.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that not everything is right with the club's results. After the Barca defeat, their first La Liga loss in 42 games, Madrid have come undone at home for the second straight game, conceding seven times across both outings.

Before the Barcelona loss, Borussia Dortmund were running riot at the Bernabeu but only led 2-0 at the break. Eventually, Ancelotti's side recovered to win 5-2, but the subsequent defeats to Barca and Milan have brought back the alarm bells.

“We have to be worried,” Ancelotti said after the Milan defeat (as per The Guardian). “We’re lacking something.”
“Every year, there are hard moments when you have to hang on, fight, suffer. We have to suffer together. What’s not so normal is that this team had a very good run and has fallen so fast. But that is part of football too: when you think everything is perfect, you fall. The good thing about football is that we have another game in our stadium soon where we can go back to being the team we were last year.”

Real Madrid are nine points behind runaway leaders Barca (31) in La Liga but have a game in hand, while in the Champions League, they have slipped to 17th after four games.

Madrid are next in action at the weekend when they take on Osasuna at home in La Liga on Saturday (November 9).
