Rumour: Roberto Martinez front runner to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal
Everton boss Roberto Martinez’s work with Swansea, Wigan and now Everton seems to have impressed Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy. So much so that the 40-year old is reportedly being lined up as the eventual successor to current Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Wenger is also believed to be impressed with the way Martinez carries himself in the media and the Spaniard’s stock went up further with his digni?ed reaction to Everton’s 4-1 FA Cup defeat at the Emirates last week.
The French manager’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and although negotiations for a new contract are thought to be underway, the management is looking at Martinez to take over eventually.
Wenger showered praise earlier this season for the work Martinez has done at Everton, who are seventh in the table, equal on points with Manchester United but with a game in hand.
“Martinez has done remarkably well,” the Frenchman said.
Martinez is on a 4-year contract with the Toffees after having joined them this summer.
