Rumor: Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross wanted by Manchester City and Newcastle United
Stoke City centre back Ryan Shawcross could find himself in the middle of a transfer battler as Manchester City and Newcastle United have expressed their interest in the defender.
Shawcross was voted as Stoke City’s Player of the Season after yet another stellar season at the club.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes is eager to keep Shawcross at the Brittania Stadium but is also keen on rebuilding the club and may cell the defender if City or Newcastle make an offer of around £12million.
City, who were recently fined €60 million be the UEFA after breaching FFP rules, want to bring more English players into their squad in order to comply with UEFA rules and avoid being fined by the organization once again.
Shawcross, who was previously on the books of Manchester United, may be tempted to make a move to a big club like City in order to play Champions League football and help diminish their defensive woes that have plagued them through this season.
