Rumour: Thomas Muller wants Manchester United move to follow Louis Van Gaal
Thomas Muller is reportedly keen on linking up with Louis Van Gaal again and could be tempted to follow his former coach at Bayern Munich to Manchester United, should the Dutchman be appointed as expected, according to the Metro.
Van Gaal is the favourite to replace David Moyes at Old Trafford following the Scotsman’s sacking after ten months in charge, once he has concluded his World Cup campaign with his native Holland this summer and has already reportedly given United a list of transfer targets to bolster the squad.
The likes of Marco Reus, Toni Kroos, Kevin Strootman, Edinson Cavani and Cesc Fabregas are all believed to be targets and Muller is also thought to be interested in working under Van Gaal once more, after the Dutchman made him a regular in the Bayern side as a 19-year-old.
German daily Bild, have claimed that Muller is unsettled with life under Pep Guardiola having had his appearances in the starting XI restricted of late, but Bayern are loathe to lose their academy graduate any time soon, as the higher-ups at the club still rate Muller heavily.
A £35million price tag has been placed upon the German international’s head should any suitors come forward, but that may not prove an issue for United, as they have set aside £200m in the summer purely for marquee transfers.
