Rumour: Tottenham attempt to hijack Divock Origi’s £9.8 million move to Liverpool

Divock Origi: Spurs also keen on the teenager

Tottenham have renewed their interest in Liverpool target Divock Origi, writes the Mirror.

The 19-year-old Belgium star has already rejected the approaches of the North London outfit, as Origi is said to favour joining a club that’s involved in the Champions League.

The most recent reports suggest that Liverpool have agreed a £9.8 million fee for Origi’s services, with the Lille striker set to discuss personal terms with Brendan Rodgers this week.

The terms of this deal are said to stipulate that Origi returns to the Ligue 1 for the 2014/15 campaign to garner more experience, before integrating into The Reds’ first-team squad in the following season.

However, Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be willing to throw the youngster into Premier League action straight away, which Spurs are hoping might convince Origi to reconsider a move to White Hart Lane.

Origi’s rise to prominence is in part attributable to his performances for Belgium at the World Cup. An unknown entity to most, Origi was the saviour in Belgium’s second group game against Russia, scoring the winning goal two minutes before time.

Furthermore, in the recent past Spurs have swooped for Liverpool target’s such as Gylfi Sigurdsson.
