Rumour: Tottenham Hotspur lead the race to sign Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race to sign Manchester United’s out of favour striker Javier Hernandez in the summer, after the Mexican forward has been told that he can leave Old Trafford.

A source close to RedMancunian, stated that Javier Hernandez had the opportunity to leave during the 2013 summer transfer window, in which Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Sevilla were all interested, but both player and agent came to the conclusion that he would stay in Manchester and fight to impress new manager David Moyes for a first team place, a choice that has not gone in his favour.

Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently two-points ahead of Manchester United in 6th place, have been keeping a close eye on the Hernandez situation and are preparing to table a formal bid when the summer transfer window opens, hopeful of getting a deal for the 25-year-old done before the World Cup in Brazil kicks off.

Having already signed Nemanja Vidic and holding talks with Patrice Evra, Inter Milan are also keeping an eye on the Hernandez situation with Milan president Erick Thohir saying that “Chicharito is a good player but we have not spoken with him” yet.

Hernandez signed for Manchester United back in the summer of 2010, thus far making 145 appearances, 64 as a substitute and scoring 58 goals, including his goal on Saturday finishing off Aston Villa in a 4-1 victory at Old Trafford. It was a very muted celebration from the Mexican who has almost giving up all hope on being a first choice under David Moyes.
