Rumour: Tottenham Hotspur offer £14m plus Roberto Soldado on loan for Alberto Moreno

Roberto Soldado being used as bait to lure Sevilla to sell Alberto Moreno?

Tottenham Hotspur have offered Sevilla £14 million plus Roberto Soldado on loan for a season in exchange for left-back Alberto Moreno, according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool were reported to have made a bid for Moreno last week but it seems Spurs have jumped in on the Reds again, offering misfit Soldado plus £14m for the Spanish left-back.

Moreno is one of the most highly-rated younger players in Spain after having a superb season with Sevilla that ended in European glory as they Spanish side beat Benfica on penalties in the Europa League final.

Liverpool were thought to be leading the race to sign Moreno but new Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has targeted the left-back to aid their defensive problems.

Tottenham bought Soldado for £26m from Valencia last summer but he ended up scoring just six goals in the Premier League – four from the penalty spot – and becoming a massive disappointment. His time at the club is expected to be over and the north London side are trying to force his departure by offering him as part of the Moreno deal.

However, despite these reports, Sky Sports are reporting that Spurs are, in fact, not interested in Moreno and have not submitted an offer, leaving Liverpool on the verge of signing him.
