Rumour: Tottenham trying to hijack Konoplyanka deal

Tottenham Hotspur seems all set to bid for Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka in an attempt to hijack Liverpool’s bid for the youngster.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be furious if another of his transfer target is snatched away from under his nose after Chelsea was able to beat Liverpool at the last moment for Basel star Mohamed Salah.

But it seems that Liverpool will be facing a similar situation in their pursuit for the Ukranian international despite Ian Ayre already travelling to Ukraine in an attempt to finalise a £16million deal with Dnipro.

This will be the third time in recent times that Spurs will attempt to hijack a move for an attacking midfielder, after doing it in the cases of both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clint Dempsey after Liverpool initially made the first approach.

Liverpool will looking to complete the Konoplyanka deal as soon as possible, as it will be a huge relief for Rodgers as he looks to straighten his squad in his attempt at a place in next season’s Champions League.
