Rumours: Chelsea set to complete Matic transfer

Chelsea have received an immense boost in their hunt for Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic as the Portuguese press has reported that the player has informed Benfica that he wants to move back to Stamford Bridge.

Matic has been strongly linked with a possible return to his former club Chelsea in the January transfer window, as it seems that Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his midfield options.

Benfica has been adamant on retaining the Serbian’s services, but it seems that the 26 year old midfielder is set to leave the club this month.

It is rumoured that a move back to Stamford Bridge for Matic will cost Chelsea around £21million and if the transfer is completed, the player will return to Chelsea after being sold in 2011 as part of the David Luiz deal.

Manchester United is the other club keenly following the Serbian midfielder, but Chelsea remain the front runner at this moment.
