Rumours: Lionel Messi to come out of international retirement

A Spanish newspaper has reported that Messi will come out of his international retirement in September

New Argentina national team manager Edgardo Bauza was due to fly to Barcelona to have a talk with Lionel Messi, which translates to the new manager talking him out of the retirement that Messi took after he missed a penalty in a shootout in the Copa America final against Chile in what was a third consecutive final loss for Argentina in a major competitive finals.

Two out of the three came in consecutive Copa America finals and one in the World Cup final against Germany.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has now reported that Lionel Messi will put on the Albicelsete shirt on for the South American World Cup qualifiers that are going to take place in the near future. Important fixtures in the qualifiers are in the month of September against Uruguay and at home against Venezuela.

As reported by the Spanish outlet, the Argentina manager Bauza had talks with the maestro to convince him as the manager himself had stated that he will convince the four-time Ballon D'or winner to return to play for his national team whereas Bauza reiterates that he didn't speak a single word about his return when he spoke with Lionel Messi for the first time since his appointment as Tata Martino's successor.

"We didn't speak about his return. We just had a little talk about football, I'll be calling him in a few days." Bauza told the journalists after his meeting with Messi. The 28-year-old took a decision hastily after their disappointing loss against Chile and since then has avoided talking to the media or any other source as he was on holiday with his family and then immediately joining the Barcelona squad in England.

Bauza was reported to not only to talk with Argentina's national team captain Messi but also with another of his senior teammate, Javier Mascherano who also has opted to retire from his international duties. Many of Messi's international teammates like Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero had also expressed their desire to retire from the national team following their differences with the board.

Now with Messi's return to the Argentina team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers, it will act as a huge boost for the country as they look towards their captain fantastic to guide them towards a much awaited World Cup glory in Russia.
