Rumours: Manchester United and Manchester City look to sign Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets

Can Pep Guardiola lure Sergio Busquets to Manchester City?

Transfer gossip has made the headlines of the front page of Catalan daily Sport. According to the Spanish daily, Manchester United, Manchester City and PSG are all interested in signing the highly influential midfielder.

Not only are these three huge teams interested in Busquets, Sport also claims that they have all already tabled bids for the midfielder. Busquets has a contract with Barcelona until 2019 however, talks of a new contract have stalled with Busquets not yet confirming his future with the club.

Although it is widely believed that Busquets wants to stay at the club, Barcelona may be tempted to cash in on the midfielder who is rumoured to have a release clause of close to €150 million.

The report also goes on to speculate that a huge bid of 100 million euro might be required to sign one of the best defensive midfielders in the game. Manchester City are the favourites to land the Catalan midfielder as he has also previously stated his desire to work with Pep Guardiola once again.

Although there is no doubting Busquets’ talent and importance to the team, surely he is not worth that much amount of money and the Manchester giants along with PSG will be looking to sign him for a much lesser price.

Busquets says only wife and Guardiola can make him leave Barcelona

Sergio Busquets has revealed that he will only be tempted away from Barcelona by Pep Guardiola, or if his wife were to ever change her mind about living in Barcelona. The Spanish defensive midfielder has been one of Barcelona’s pivotal players in Luis Enrique’s all-conquering side but is set to spark off rumours of a move to Manchester City with his comments.

Busquets made the comments in a televised interview with ESPN, saying: “I have always said there are just two persons who could make me change my decision to stay at Barcelona.

“One of those two persons is my wife. And she is happy here right now, so I don't think there will be any issues on a personal level.”

While Busquets hinted at the domestic bliss he enjoys, he is bound to have set Mancunian hearts aflutter with his next comment, saying: “On a sporting level, that other person is Guardiola. It's clear that I owe Pep a lot and I would be honoured to work with him again.”

Barcelona fans will be hoping that Busquets stays at the Catalan side for a long time.
