Chelsea transfer news: Willian shrugs off interest from Paris Saint-Germain; wants to finish career at Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder, Willian has stated that he has not yet been approached by defending French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at any point in time. The Brazilian also expressed his desire to end his football career at Stamford Bridge.
There were rumours regarding the French club making contact with Willian during the latter part of the 2015/16 season. The midfielder had been one of the few good players for the Blues during a disastrous campaign last term as he finished as the top goalscorer for Chelsea.
“I read some things in the press on this topic but personally, I never received a concrete offer from PSG. My family feels good in London and I love the Premier League, which is the best in the world,” Willian said.
It was reported that the Brazilian was contacted before Chelsea and PSG met in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League Round of 16. PSG won both the legs 2-1 to knock Chelsea out of the tournament. The 28-year old also spoke of his wish to extend his current contract, which he had signed earlier this year and runs until June 2020, that will help him retire at Chelsea.

“I am growing in a team that plays beautiful football, something which is important in my eyes. For all of these reasons, I intend to see out my contract and perhaps even extend it a little further if the club offers me the chance. It would be a privilege to finish my career at a club as big as Chelsea,” Willian explained.
Since moving to Chelsea in 2013/14, the midfielder has featured in 146 matches and scored 21 goals. After having scored only eight goals in his first two seasons, he has recently grown into more of a scoring threat for the Blues and reached double figures last season.
After having finished tenth in the English Premier League last season, Chelsea have had a better start to the current campaign under Antonio Conte. The Blues are seventh in the table after seven games, level on points with Jose Mourinho's sixth-placed Manchester United.
Willian, who has scored two goals in six matches so far this season, will be hoping to help Chelsea get back into the top four and maybe even have a shot at the title. Chelsea have a couple of tough fixtures coming up with Leicester City on October 15, and Manchester United the week after.
